Stanford Invite Racing Schedule

STANFORD, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's rowing team will have nine races this weekend at the Stanford Invitational, which will be held at the Redwood Shores Lagoon, the home course of the No. 13-ranked Stanford Cardinal.

On Saturday, the Toreros will go up against No. 17 Oregon State University. The varsity eight boat of Torrey Ray, Rory Kew, Henri Hicks, Nick Watson, Will Bastien, Taylor Terheggen, Alex La Bruno, John Bacic, Patrick McPolin will battle it out with the Beavers V8 boat at 9:00 a.m. in the first race of the regatta. The 2V8 boat of Will Graf, Ryan Sandy, Hayden Town, Sam Stephens, Mike Mohrman, Parker Danz, Jack Pokalsky, Brandon de Caussin, Pierce Salamack will go at 9:40 a.m. and the 3V8 boat of Berkley Brown / Kai Morse, Luke Uetrecht, Sam Schelonka, Parker Brooks, Daniel Hearst, Konrad Altvater, Spencer Currey, Andrew Thomas, Nick Bea at 10:30 a.m.

Following a lunch break, San Diego will be back out on the water at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The varsity eight will go up against their Southern California rival Orange Coast College, while the 2V8 will race at 3:00 p.m. and 3V8 at 3:30 p.m. against OCC as well.

The racing will conclude on Sunday morning with the USD V8 and 2V8 taking on Santa Clara University, and the 3V8 taking on the Cal Lightweights. The varsity eight boats will race at 9:30 a.m., while the 2V8 will go at 10:10 a.m. The 3V8 boat will take on the Cal Lightweights at 10:50 a.m. to conclude the USD racing in this prestigious event.

Also competing in the Stanford Invitational will be No. 1 ranked Washington, No. 13 Stanford, UC Irvine, and UC Davis.

The Toreros are coming off a tough loss to UC Santa Barbara in the Cal Cup Grand Final of the 42nd annual San Diego Crew Classic, in which USD led for the majority of the race but couldn't hold off a last second surge by UC Santa Barbara and fell to the Gauchos by 0.6 seconds.

This will be the fourth weekend regatta of 2015 for the Toreros as they opened the year with the San Diego City Championships on March 7th, followed by a three-team race out at Mission Bay between Gonzaga, and UC San Diego on March 13, followed by the the San Diego Crew Classic March 28-29.
