SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Fresh of a three-week break, the University of San Diego men's rowing team will return to action this weekend, as they head up to Orange County to compete in the Newport Regatta, hosted by Southern California rival Orange Coast College.

Also competing in this weekend's festivities will be the host Pirates of OCC, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UCLA, Loyola Marymount, and Chapman College.

An awards ceremony will follow at 10:00 AM. USD will now be staging out of the Newport Aquatic Center (1 Whitecliffs Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660.) The traditional course has been adjusted about 300M East and so the OCC Boathouse will now represent the 1500M mark approximately, with the finish line located off the "DivBar Restaurant" - There will be NO PARKING available at the OCC Boathouse, there will hopefully be some parking in the lot behind "Garlic Joe's Restaurant"

This will be the fifth weekend regatta of 2015 for the Toreros as they opened the year with the San Diego City Championships on March 7th, followed by a three-team race out at Mission Bay between Gonzaga, and UC San Diego on March 13, followed by the San Diego Crew Classic March 28-29, then the Stanford Invite April 11-12.

USD will use this regatta as preparation for the PCRC's on May 16 up at Rancho Cardova. That weekend USD will look to once again qualify for the Nationals, which will be held on May 29-31 in Camden, N.J.
