Feb. 29, 2016 Duda Sanadze of the men's basketball team has been named the USD Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 22 to Feb. 29.
this past week against Gonzaga and Portland, senior guard Duda Sanadze averaged 24.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46.9% from the field (15-32), 61.5% from three-point (8-13) and 84.6% from the free throw line (11-13). On Saturday, Sanadze powered the Toreros past Portland (85-76) with a new USD Division I scoring record of 38 points. His output was one more point than the previous Torero mark of 37 set by both Marty Munn (1988 vs. LMU) and Mike Whitmarsh (1983 vs. LMU).
The Toreros will face Loyola Marymount on Friday, March 4th, in the 6:00 p.m. game (BYUtv) at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The winner will go on to face No. 1 seed Saint Mary's College on Saturday, March 5th, in the 7:00 p.m. contest (ESPN2).
