Final Stats

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Toreros (2-3) lost their match on Friday to the undefeated University of Arizona (6-0) 5-2. The women started the match off strong after they clinched the doubles point, but fell short of an overall win after only one victory in singles play.

First to win in doubles play was USD's No. 2 team of Nicole Anderson and Maria-Paula Torres. They defeated Arizona's Paris Corley and Marie Van Aelst 6-3. The No. 3 team of Sophia Chow and Kati Kukaras played Arizona's Devin Chypyha and Camila Wesbrooks. They were the second to finish and won with a score of 6-4. Their victory clinched the doubles point for USD. The No. 1 doubles duo of Colomba DiFilippo and Daniela Morales did not finish due to the early win.

In singles play the young Toreros team fell short of the points they needed to clinch a quick victory. One Torero, however, was able to battle for winning point on USD's scoreboard. At the No. 3 spot, Daniela Morales was the only Torero to win her match. She defeated the Wildcat's Devin Chypyha with a 6-4, 7-5 decision.

The other women had tough matches against the Wildcats and couldn't come out with any other wins. The Toreros pick up play on Sunday against No. 20 UCLA at 12:00 p.m.
