SAN DIEGO -- The USD football team held its annual Blue-White game today at Torero Stadium. Played in great weather and before a strong turnout of family members and alumni, the 60+ play controlled scrimmage between the offense and defense was a spirited outing. The offense dominated the day with nine total touchdowns; four coming during the five red zone offense situations. The Toreros will hold their final three practices this coming week before taking off for Spring Break.

Head Coach Dale Lindsey had this to say, "I wanted to come out of here with no serious injuries, and we accomplished that. I was hoping that the defense, certain portions of it, would rise up and show great improvement. But I don't feel they did. I'm quite pleased overall with what our offense did at all positions. The line did a great job of pass blocking; the running backs found the holes when they were there; the quarterbacks did a good job passing the ball around, and the receivers really dominated our secondary."

The offense, behind a strong offensive line unit, shined with five scores coming through the air and four on the ground. Freshman running back Jordan Charles rushed 12 times for 87 yards and 3 scores (1, 17, 1). Griffin Intrieri also totaled 12 runs and finished with 44 yards and a 20-yard TD sprint on the final play of the game.

Quarterback Anthony Lawrence completed 10-of-11 passes for 119 yards and one touchdown, connecting with WR Justin Priest for an 8-yard score. The quarterback group combined to complete 24-of-30 passes for 319 yards and five scores. Reid Sinnett connected with Intrieri for a 5-yard score; Alex Farina tossed a 14-yard touchdown pass to WR Zach Davis, and Mason Randall tossed two touchdowns -- 16 yards to Carter Golgart and 25 yards to Zach Davis. Justin Priest finished the day with 8 receptions for 98 yards and one score.

Defensively the Toreros contributed some solid hits. Defensive lineman Aaron Laut was credited with a sack and a quarterback hurry. Safety Jack Michael was in on four tackles and contributed a pass break-up. The kicking game looked solid too. Patrick Murray connected on field goals of 25 and 20 yards, and along with Tim Hemmersmeier and Jack Flatau, the trio combined for a perfect 9-for-9 in PAT kicks.

USD's season opener is slated for September 2nd at Torero Stadium against Western New Mexico University.
