Final Stats

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Toreros (2-5) embarked on their third straight competition against a Pac-12 school on Sunday. They played No. 30 Arizona State University (4-1) at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. In a swift tennis match, the Arizona Sun Devils took the victory from the Toreros.

In doubles play, Arizona State won the first two matches, taking the doubles point with an early lead. At the No. 2 spot, Maria-Paula Torres and Daniela Morales finished first but lost their match to Savannah Slaysman and Kelley Anderson 6-1. At the No. 3 position, Gemma Garcia and Sophia Chow lost their match to Kassidy Jump and Sammi Hampton 6-2. The No. 1 team did not finish once ASU won their second match.

In singles play the Toreros went up against two nationally ranked players from ASU. At the No. 1 position, Nicole Anderson took on No. 79 Kassidy Jump. At the No. 2 position Daniela Morales went up against No. 72 Sammi Hampton. Neither of their matches were finished due to an early win by ASU.

The No. 4 singles players finished first. ASU's Nicole Fossa-Huergo defeated USD's Maria-Paula Torres 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 6 position Sophia Chow played Gussie O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan was able to defeat Chow in a 6-0, 6-2 decision. Last to finish and the deciding point was USD's Gemma Garcia and ASU's Kelley Anderson at the No. 3 position. Despite a fight by Garcia, Anderson won with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

The Toreros pick up play March 1 against San Diego State University at 1:30 p.m.
