Final Stats

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Cross-town-rival San Diego State (4-8) came to battle the Toreros (3-5) at the Skip and Cindy Tennis Center on Wednesday. The Toreros lost the doubles point, but made up for it in singles play, defeating the Aztecs 4-1.

The Aztecs took the first win of the day in doubles play. The No. 2 team of SDSU's Kennedy Davis and Mia Smith defeated Nicole Anderson and Maria-Paula Torres. The Toreros No. 1 team of Colomba DiFilippo and Daniela Morales fought back and defeated SDSU 6-2. The final match that gave SDSU the doubles point was from the No. 3 team. SDSU defeated USD in a tie breaker ending with a 7-6 (3) score.

In singles play the Toreros dominated the courts. At the No. 2 spot, Daniela Morales won her second match of the day against SDSU's Kennedy Davis (7-5, 6-1). Maria-Paula Torres won her match next, playing in the No. 5 spot. She defeated Olivia Larsson 6-2, 6-2.

Colomba DiFilippo won her second match of the day against Mia Smith. She competed in the No. 4 spot against Smith and won 6-4, 6-3. The last win of the day and the point that clinched the win for USD was from the No. 1 player, Nicole Anderson. She won her match against Jana Buth 6-3, 7-5.

The Toreros pick up play against Brown University March 4 at 11 a.m.
