Final Stats

LONG BEACH, Calif. - On Saturday morning the Toreros (4-7) played up the coast at Long Beach State University (10-2). This was their second dual of the week after playing UC Santa Barbara Thursday. The Toreros fought but lost to LBSU 5-2.

LBSU took the first win of the day in doubles play. The USD No. 2 team of Maria-Paula Torres and Sophia Chow was defeated by Lena Pacholski and Laura Eales 6-3, but Nicole Anderson and Gemma Garcia fired back with a win of their own. Anderson and Garcia played at the No. 3 spot and defeated Maren Helgo and Natalia Munoz 7-6 (6).

San Diego was relentless as they fought to break the tie for the doubles point, but the No. 1 team of Colomba DiFilippo and Daniela Morales couldn't clinch the win. They lost to Maeva Razakasoa and Julie Gerard 7-6 (12).

In singles play the Toreros fought to keep up with LBSU but fell short only gaining two points in the final tally. Morales battled Gerard on court 2 and won with a 6-4, 6-4 decision. Torres marked the thrid win of the day and defeated Munoz on court 5, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

DiFilippo was toppled by Pacholski first at the No. 4 spot (6-4, 6-3). At the No. 6 position, Sophia Chow lost to Eales in the third set (6-3, 1-3, 6-3). At the No. 1 spot, Anderson was not able to pull out a win and lost to Razakasoa 6-4, 6-4. Last to finish was Gemma Garcia who played at USD's No. 3 spot. She lost to Helgo in a three set game, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

The Toreros take on BYU at home on Wednesday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m.
