Final Stats

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Toreros dominated in their first conference match of the season. USD beat Brigham Young in a 4-0 shutout Wednesday afternoon. The women won the doubles point, then clinched the victory after just three wins in singles play.

USD's No. 1 team of Daniela Morales and Colomba DiFilippo and No. 3 team of Maria-Paula Torres and Sophia Chow clinched the doubles point for USD. Morales and DiFilippo played BYU's Savannah Ware-Avina and Samantha Smith, and defeated them 6-2. Torres and Chow played BYU's Taylah Beckman and Demi Perkinson, and toppled them 6-2 as well. The No. 2 team of Nicole Anderson and Gemma Garcia were leading 5-4 when play was suspended.

In singles play, only three of the six teams finished their matches due to an early win for USD. At the No. 4 position, DiFilippo picked up her second win of the day. She played against Smith and won in a two set match, 6-3, 6-3. Torres, who played on court five, won her second match of the day against Beckman 6-2, 6-4. Chow was the last to finish and the deciding point for USD. She played Perkinson at the No. 6 spot, and dominated with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout and win for San Diego.

The Toreros pick up play against Dartmouth on Saturday, March 18 at 12 p.m.
