The USD Torero women's tennis team opened up their spring schedule today with a match in Los Angeles against the USC Trojans. USC came away with a 6-1 victory. USD's Carolin Nonnenmacher, playing at No. 5 singles, rallied to defeat Sydney Van Alphen by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.
USD had two other matches go three sets, but Gemma Garcia dropped a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 decision to No. 85 Madison Westby at No. 3 singles. Maria-Paula Torres also won her first set before falling to Angela Kulikov at No. 4 singles, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
