SAN DIEGO – San Diego will take a short bus ride east to take on San Diego State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT in Viejas Arena.

The Toreros (6-2) have won four of their past five games and are coming off a 74-70 win against Long Beach State. The Aztecs (5-2) have won three of their past four matchups and defeated Illinois State 75-65 this past Saturday.

Olin Carter III scored a team-high 21 points and San Diego shot 52 percent in the second half to earn a 74-70 victory against Long Beach State this past Saturday night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

• Carter III has scored in double-digits in every game this season and eclipsed the 20-point mark for the fourth time this year. Carter III made his biggest impact midway through the second half when he went on a 11-2 run himself, and drew a charge on the defensive end, to erase a two-point deficit and put the Toreros in front 47-43 with 13:09 to play.

• USD sealed the victory by converting each of its final 10 free throws over the last 5:21 of the game.

• After a slow start offensively, the Toreros found their rhythm and finished the game at 45 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range – including a 6-for-10 clip during the second half.

Tyler Williams and
Isaiah Pineiro contributed 17 points apiece, and
Isaiah Wright added 11. Williams matched his career high of five 3-pointers in a game on 5-of-8 shooting.

• Pineiro was one rebound shy of a double-double, leading the team with nine. Wright distributed a team-high six assists.

• With the absence of starting center
Yauhen Massalski due to injury, the Toreros needed significant contributions from its bench and they delivered.
Andrew Ferguson helped spark USD's offense early in the first half when he entered the game and knocked down a 3-pointer then found Pineiro on a baseline cut to the basket for a dunk on the following offensive possession.

• With the Toreros holding on to a four-point lead,
Finn Sullivan knocked down a 3-pointer with 4:29 remaining to put USD in control down the stretch.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SAN DIEGO STATE
• USD is 18-31 all-time against the Aztecs and are 1-2 in the past three meetings. The Toreros most recent victory against SDSU was a 53-48 decision on Dec. 6, 2015, when the teams played at Petco Park.

Isaiah Pineiro led the Toreros in scoring in four of the first six games and

Tyler Williams does a little of everything for the Toreros on both sides of the floor. He is averaging 7.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He holds a 4.8 assists to turnover ratio.

• Through the first six games of the season,
Alex Floresca was one of the Toreros most efficient players. He was averaging 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per game. He shot 71 percent (15-of-21) from the field and was 3-of-5 (60 percent) from behind the arc.
