SAN DIEGO – Alex Floresca scored a career-high 16 points and all five San Diego starters reached double-digits in scoring as the Toreros earned a convincing 82-68 victory against CSUN on Sunday afternoon in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

USD matched its best start in program history as a Division-I program at 8-2 and improved to 6-0 at home this season with the win.

Floresca was efficient throughout the game, finishing 7-of-9 from the field, including 1-of-1 from 3-point range, and added four assists, three rebounds and a block in 23 minutes of action.

The Toreros shot 53 percent on the day and knocked down 11 3-pointers in a balanced offensive effort. USD shared the ball well, dishing out 25 assists on 32 made baskets.

Isaiah Pineiro matched Floresca with 16 points, followed by
Isaiah Wright (15),
Olin Carter III (13) and
Tyler Williams (12).

Williams did all of his damage from behind the arc and was 4-of-6, one shy of his single-game career high for made 3-pointers.
Lamine Diane led the Matadors (3-6) with 19 points and Terrell Gomez added 13. The duo came into the game averaging 25.6 and 17.7 points per game, respectively.

Pineiro led the Toreros with seven rebounds, followed by Carter III, Wright and Akim Jamal-Jonah with four apiece.

Wright contributed a team-high seven assists – one shy of his season high – and swiped two steals.

Trailing by four points midway through the first half, USD took control of the game when it reeled off three straight baskets in transition. Pineiro got the rally going when he received a pass from
Finn Sullivan and threw down a dunk.

The Toreros grabbed a rebound on CSUN's ensuing possession and immediately took off on offense, leading to a layup by Pineiro.

Sullivan blocked the Matadors next shot and the Toreros grabbed the rebound, raced down the court and Carter III knocked down a 3-pointer. The 7-0 run gave the Toreros a three-point lead with 12:39 to play in the first half and the Toreros would not trail the remainder of the game.

USD extended its lead to 40-24 just before halftime on a nice play out of a timeout that led to an open layup by Pineiro.

It was more of the same in the second half for the Toreros which shot 57 percent from the field and 60 percent from 3-point range.

USD will try to secure its best start in program history Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT when it travels to Oregon. The Ducks will be the Toreros third Pac-12 opponent during nonconference play.
