SAN DIEGO - San Diego won the doubles point and Daniela Morales earned a singles win, but the Toreros were unable to capture a victory Thursday, falling to Hawaii, 4-2.
USD started strong in the doubles matches with Sophia Chow and Maria-Paula Torres battling through close sets, before closing out, 7-6(3). Carolin Nonnenmacher and Gemma Garcia pulled out a 6-4 defeat over Alzbeta Houbova and Marina Hruba, securing the Toreros' first point of the day.
Morales finished the first singles match with a 6-2, 6-1 win. However, the next four matches went to the Rainbow Wahine, as they claimed the 4-2 decision.
The Toreros head to cross-city rival, San Diego State, on Sunday at noon PT.
