Toreros Trumped by Broncos

March 2, 2018

SAN DIEGO - Carolin Nonnenmacher and Maria-Paula Torres' singles wins were not enough to secure a win for the Toreros Friday afternoon, as they fell to the Broncos, 4-2.

Santa Clara earned the first point of the day during doubles play, closing out #1 and #2 doubles, leaving #3 unfinished.

#2 singles play wrapped up first, with Santa Clara defeating Daniela Morales, 6-2, 6-3.

The Toreros took their first point of the day with Nonnenmacher's win, 6-1, 6-1.

The Broncos battled back to earn their third point over Nicole Anderson, 6-2, 6-3, to put them up 3-1.

Torres earned San Diego's final point in her singles match, winning, 7-5, 6-0.

The Toreros were handed a 4-2 defeat when Kati Kukaras dropped her sets, 6-2, 6-3, leaving the last singles match unfinished.

USD will look to bounce back on Thursday, March 8, when they host Boston University at 1:30 p.m. PT.
