PORTLAND - San Diego fought from behind to clinch the win against Portland 4-3. The Toreros picked up the doubles point and Gemma Garcia continued her win streak in singles.
Nicole Anderson and Daniela Morales continued their win streak on the doubles court by earning their fourth consecutive win and improved to 6-4 overall. They defeated the Pilot's Jelena Lukic and Anna Oberg 6-4.
Carolin Nonnenmacher and Gemma Garcia won their match against Okazaki and Lourdes Ramalle, 7-5, to clinch the doubles point for USD.
In singles play, Maria-Paula Torres picked up a point on court three when she defeated Ramalle 7(6)-6, 6-4.
Portland won points on court one, two and four to take a 3-2 lead over USD. One point away from a win by the Pilots, Gemma Garcia, who played at the No. 5 spot, scored her sixth consecutive win and tied the match.
At 3-3, the match decision was down to court six, between USD's Nonnenmacher and Portland's Oberg. Nonnenmacher clinched the win for the Toreros with a two-set match 7-5, 6-1.
The win marked the first conference win for USD. They improved to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in WCC play.
On Sunday, the women will play their fourth conference match against Gonzaga in Spokane at 11 a.m.
