Spokane, Wash. - San Diego dropped a 4-0 decision at Gonzaga on Sunday afternoon. The sole win for USD came from Gemma Garcia and Carolin Nonnenmacher during doubles play.
Play began with doubles competition, where Maria-Paula Torres and Kati Kukaras dropped the first set to Gonzaga, 6-1. Garcia and Nonnenmacher won the second set, 6-4. However, the Zags took the final set, 6-4, giving them the doubles point.
The Toreros headed into singles play with Nicole Anderson at the #1 spot and Daniela Morales at #2. Both women were first to finish their sets. Anderson lost to her opponent, 6-1, 6-2, while Morales dropped hers, 6-2, 6-1.
The deciding point for the match was taken by Gonzaga's Garley against Kukaras, 6-0, 6-2, giving the Zags the 4-0 win.
Torres, Garcia and Nonnenmacher did not finish their sets.
The Toreros have a chance to bounce back on Wednesday at home against San Jose State at 11 a.m. PT.
