San Diego takes on Oregon and Portland

SAN DIEGO – San Diego heads to the Pacific Northwest this week for a pair of matchups against Oregon and Portland.

The Toreros (2-1) open the weekend against the Ducks (3-1) on Friday at 5 p.m. before opening WCC play at the Pilots (1-3) on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Live streams and live stats will be available for both matches.

It will be the first meeting against Oregon since April 6, 1997, when the Toreros earned a 6-1 victory. The Toreros beat Portland twice last season, earning a 4-0 win in the regular season and a 4-2 victory in the WCC Tournament.

USD split a pair of matches last week in Los Angeles, sweeping Ole Miss 4-0 and falling to No. 7 UCLA, 4-1.

The Toreros made quick work of the Rebels, going 2-0 in doubles and winning each singles match in straight sets.

USD got off to a great start against its first top-10 opponent of the season in the Bruins, with Joel Gamerov and August Holmgren defeating Ben Goldberg and Govind Nanda, 6-4. Guus Koevermans and David Norfeldt delivered the doubles point in dramatic fashion, rallying back from a 6-5 deficit to win 7-6 (8-6) against Connor Rapp and Patrick Zahraj.

The Toreros ran into trouble during singles play with the Bruins winning four matches in straight sets.
