DeLAND, Fla. – San Diego rushed for 353 yards, including nearly 300 in a second half in which it scored five touchdowns, to help beat Stetson 51-7 on Saturday at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium.
The Toreros (7-2, 6-0 PFL) won their nation-leading 35th consecutive conference game behind an overwhelming second half showing that featured redshirt senior JoJo Binda, Jr. rushing for 225 of his 227 total yards and redshirt sophomore
RJ Gonzalez scoring three touchdowns – the first of his career – on four carries. Binda, Jr. only needed 13 rushes to register his first career 200-yard game as he averaged 17.5 yards per carry.
USD finished the game with 610 yards of offense, which was the second time in the last three weeks it totaled 600+ yards. In that three-week stretch, the Toreros have turned in 568 yards per contest.
The 51 points scored also gave the Toreros three straight games of 49 or more points, a first since 2006.
While the offense was performing as usual, the Torero defense also lived up to its recent standard as it shut out Stetson (6-3, 3-3 PFL) in the first half and limited them to a lone touchdown when the game was out of reach in the fourth quarter. The Toreros held the Hatters to only five first downs and 63 yards on 31 plays in the scoreless first half. It was the second time in as many weeks USD shut out an opponent in the first 30 minutes of a game.
USD forced Stetson into 10 punts on its 16 drives while also picking off two passes to win the turnover margin (+1). The Tolbert twins, Daniel and David, each had an interception.

Nick Friedel shared the team lead in tackles with nine while junior

Bandy, a STATS FCS Walter Payton Award watch list member along with Sinnett, had four catches for 54 yards. Senior
Michael Armstead, meanwhile, led the team with 78 receiving yards. Sophomore
Dalton Kincaid was right behind Armstead with 72 receiving yards on four catches.
After field goals on their first two drives, the Toreros reached the endzone late in the first quarter with an eight-play, 84-yard drive. The drive was extended with a big 44-yard reception by Armstead on third-and-11 from the USD 30-yard line, which was followed by a 25-yard pass from Sinnett to Kincaid that put the ball at the one. After two failed rushing attempts to reach the endzone, Sinnett used a play-action rollout to find Nelson and help make it 13-0.
Coming out of halftime with a 16-0 lead, the Toreros went all-in on the run game as it rushed for 294 yards in the second half. Of their 24 rushing attempts, 11 were for 10 or more yards. Binda, Jr. led the way as had rushes of 20, 27, 33, 36 and 71 yards.
