CLAREMONT, Calif. – San Diego advanced to its seventh WCC Tournament championship match in the past eight years with a 4-2 victory against Loyola Marymount on Friday afternoon.

The Toreros (19-4) will pursue their sixth consecutive WCC Tournament title on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. PT against No. 6 Santa Clara, which upset No. 2 Gonzaga 4-0 in the other semifinal match.

USD extended its winning-streak to five matches and have won 13 of their past 14.

The Toreros got off to a quality start against the Lions (8-15) but needed a strong finish to secure their spot in the final.

Pratt Keerasuntonpong and
Garrett Kurtz put the Toreros up early in doubles with a 6-3 victory at No. 3.
David Norfeldt and
Joel Gamerov secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2. It was both doubles teams first dual match victories of the season.

August Holmgren doubled the Toreros lead with a dominating win at No. 2 against Nick Borchenko, 6-0, 6-2. Holmgren improved to 6-2 when playing in the No. 2 spot this season.

LMU battled back to tie the match 2-2 with wins at No. 4 and No. 6.

However,
Nico Borter earned a comeback victory at No. 3, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6, to put the Toreros back up 3-2. Borter improved to 10-6 in dual matches this season.

Gui Osorio capped the match with a thrilling comeback victory at No. 1, defeating Lukas Moenter, 1-6, 7-6, 7-6. It was the 13th straight victory for Osorio who improved to 19-3 in dual matches.
