SAN FRANCISCO – No. 38 San Diego won its 11th match in a row and second consecutive sweep, defeating San Francisco 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Toreros (13-2, 4-0 WCC) have won 13 of their past 14 matches and secured their fourth shutout of the season. USD's 13 wins are its most since 2012 when it finished with a 13-10 record.
 
The Toreros got off to a strong start in doubles play with Kati Kukaras and Gemma Garcia opening the match with a 6-3 win at No. 3. The duo extended their team-best winning streak to 12 matches.
 
Maria-Paula Torres and Solymar Colling secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 1. The pair has won seven straight matches and improved to 9-2 in the No. 1 position this season.
 
Colling doubled the Toreros lead with a decisive, 6-3, 6-0, win at No. 1 against the Dons (8-10, 1-5 WCC) Mya Bui. Colling improved to 10-4 when playing in the No. 1 position this season.
 
Torres put USD up 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-1, win against Rita Colyer at No. 5. She is 10-2 when playing in the No. 5 spot.
 
Kati Kukaras provided the decisive point with a 6-1, 6-3, win against Margarita Treyes in the No. 4 spot. Kukaras has won a team-best five straight matches in singles play.
 
USD will have a quick turnaround for its next match as it heads to Santa Clara on Sunday at 11 a.m. PT.
