SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Sophia Chow provided the clinching point in No. 38 San Diego's 12th straight victory as the Toreros defeated Santa Clara 4-2 on Sunday morning.
 
The Toreros (14-2, 5-0 WCC) have won 14 of their past 15 matches.
 
The Toreros got off to a strong start in doubles play, earning 6-2 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to secure the doubles point. Daniela Morales and Maria Tyrina teamed up at No. 2, and Sophia Chow and Gemma Garcia sealed the decision for USD at No. 3.
 
The Broncos (5-10, 1-5 WCC) tied the match at 1-1 after Elvena Gevargiz earned a 6-4, 6-2, win at No. 2.
 
Tyrina put the Toreros back in front, 2-1, with a win at No. 5, 6-3, 7-5. The Broncos tied the match for a second time moments later as Katya Tabachnik won at No. 4, 6-4, 6-4.
 
The Toreros pulled away late as Solymar Colling earned a 7-6 (8), 6-0, victory at No. 1. She improved to 11-4 when playing in the top spot this season.
 
Chow put the finishing touches on the victory with a 7-6 (5), 6-4, win at No. 6 to seal the 4-2 result for the Toreros.
 
USD returns home for a pair of matches next week against Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount.
