SAN DIEGO – Sara Silveyra and
Sophia Bjerk earned All-WCC honors for their outstanding play during the 2019 season, as announced Tuesday by the conference.

Silveyra represented the Toreros on the first time, while Bjerk was named to the second team. It is the second honor of Silveyra's career after being named an honorable mention during her freshman season in 2017.

Silveyra had an excellent season and led the Toreros in nearly every offensive category. She led the team with a .348 batting average, 29 RBIs, 17 doubles, three home runs, and a .551 slugging percentage. She also produced 26 runs, 48 hits, 21 walks, a .424 on-base percentage, and had just 12 strikeouts in 138 at-bats.

Silveyra led the WCC in doubles (17), was second in batting average (.348), and third in RBIs (29).

Bjerk made the most of her debut season, batting .306 with 20 RBIs, 18 runs, six doubles, 16 walks, a .463 slugging percentage and a .406 on-base percentage. She was particularly impressive on defense and locked down third base for the Toreros.

The duo paced a San Diego team that recorded at least 20 victories for the 11th straight season.
