Colling becomes first Torero All-American since 2000

ORLANDO, Fla. – Solymar Colling became San Diego's first All-American since 2000 when she defeated Northwestern's Clarissa Hand in the second round of the NCAA Championships on Tuesday at the USTA National Campus.
 
Colling, ranked 58th nationally, defeated the 39th-ranked Hand in convincing fashion with a decision of 6-1, 6-3.
 
Colling became the sixth Torero to earn All-America honors all-time, and the first since Zuzana Lesenarova earned four straight awards from 1997-2000. USD has now accumulated 13 All-America honors all-time.
 
Colling advances to the Round of 16 on Wednesday and will take on the winner of a match between Justina Mikulskyte (Kentucky) and Sara Daavettila (North Carolina).
