SAN DIEGO – San Diego released their full 2019-20 season schedule on Friday, as announced by head coach
Sam Scholl. The Toreros' schedule includes contests against four NCAA Tournament teams and two fellow NIT qualifiers.
NONCONFERENCE SCHEDULE
San Diego begins the 2019-20 campaign with a home opener against UC Irvine on Nov. 5. The Toreros will then travel to Long Beach State on Nov. 9.
La Verne will be making the trip to the JCP for the first time since 2010 on Nov. 11. USD will continue its nonconference slate with road trips to Weber State (Nov. 14) and fellow NIT qualifier Colorado on Nov. 16.
The Toreros will take on cross-town rival San Diego State at home on Nov. 20. Last season, the Toreros dominated the contest beating the Aztecs 73 – 61.
San Diego will travel to Seattle on Nov. 24 to face Washington again this season after a close three-point loss to the Huskies in 2018.
The Toreros will also compete in the inaugural Boca Raton Beach Classic presented by Sport Changes Life as a part of its nonconference slate in 2019. The multi-team event sponsored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference will take place Sunday, Dec. 1 and Monday, Dec. 2 at Florida Atlantic. All eight teams will compete in two four-team brackets with campus round games leading up to the Boca Raton contests on Abessinio Court at FAU.
San Diego is slated to compete in the Hall of Fame Bracket along with Florida Atlantic, Illinois – Chicago, and St. Bonaventure. USD will host Hofstra (Nov. 27) and Holy Cross (Dec. 7) at the JCP and travel to Boca Raton to face St. Bonaventure on Dec. 1.
The nonconference slate rounds out with contests against Fullerton, UC Davis, and Whittier College, along with a road trip to face PAC-12 opponent Stanford in San Francisco on Dec. 21.
WCC SCHEDULE INFORMATION
WCC play kicks off with two road contests versus LMU and Santa Clara on Jan. 2 and Jan. 4.
The Toreros will make their home conference debut on Jan. 9 versus WCC rival Gonzaga. San Diego will also play host to Pepperdine on Jan. 11, before hitting the road for contests against BYU and Portland.
The month of January will close out with two home games versus Santa Clara (Jan. 25) and San Francisco (Jan. 30).
A WCC Tournament rematch between San Diego and St. Mary's will take place at home on Feb. 6. The Toreros won three games in the WCC Tournament last season for the first time since 2007-08, making it to the semifinals before being knocked out by Gaels.
Portland, BYU, and Pacific will also visit the JCP for the final home conference matchups (Feb. 8, Feb. 15, and Feb. 29). San Diego's final road contest will be on Feb. 27 in Spokane versus Gonzaga.
The Toreros are coming off of an impressive run in 2018-19, after competing in the NIT for the first time in program history and a second consecutive 20-win season.
