LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - The Toreros (3-5) split the final two games of the Golden State Classic as
Madison Earnshaw threw the first no hitter since 2016 in San Diego's second game versus LIU.

Delaney Heller (2-4) earned the loss against Utah State in the morning slate, before Earnshaw (1-0) closed out the day with a win against LIU.

GAME 1 - UTAH STATE
San Diego was on the wrong side of a dominant pitching performance, as sophomore Kapri Toone tossed a no-hitter for Utah State, leading the Aggies (4-4) past the Toreros 8-0 in five innings.

Heller got the ball to start for San Diego, as the Toreros struggled to shut down the Aggies' offense. Junior
Halle Kyler was a bright spot for the Toreros, throwing 1.1 shutout innings, allowing no hits.

In the batter's box, the Toreros were led by junior
Hayley Hensley, who went 0-for-1 on the day with a walk.

San Diego couldn't advance a runner past first base in the ballgame, as the Aggies shutout the side to close it out in the bottom of the fifth.

GAME 2 - LIU
Sophomore right hander Earnshaw turned in an historic performance, tossing a no-hitter to lead the Toreros over the Sharks (3-5) 3-0.

Earnshaw added her first win of the season to her outstanding performance, striking out two and walking only one on her way to the record books. In 22 batters faced, she forced 12 groundouts and six fly outs in only 74 pitches.

At the plate, the Toreros were paced by freshman
Savannah Alarcon, who went 1-for-3 on the day with two RBIs. Junior
Halle Kyler compiled a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3.

San Diego and LIU remained scoreless through the seventh as the Toreros stranded two in the top of the third and the fourth. USD took the lead for good in the seventh, as freshman
Elisa Princic executed a bunt to get on before
Clareese Santiago moved her over to second on a sac bunt.

Lauren Hendrickson walked to create a first and third situation for the Toreros, as Kyler continued to work the small ball and scored Princic off a bunt to make it 1-0 USD. Alarcon came through in the nine hole with a single up the middle to score the final two runs of the day.

Earnshaw stayed on the mound in the bottom of the seventh, forcing three ground outs to close out the side and earn the no hitter.

The Toreros are back in action on Monday, when they'll take on Idaho State in a double header for the 2020 home opener.
