Â
The teams remained scoreless through five innings before the Toreros were able to break through in the sixth, plating two runs to take the 2-0 lead.
Â
Jung-Goldberg got things going with an RBI double, before Worthington executed a perfect squeeze bunt to score Jung-Goldberg from third and beat out the throw at first.
Â
Thurman took the mound in the bottom of the eighth with runners on the corners and the go-ahead run at the plate. The right-hander got a strikeout to end the inning and retired the final three batters in order to collect his second save of the season.
Â
USD's pitching staff held a no-hitter through seven innings before the Lancers were able to collect two hits in the top of the eighth. Back-to-back singles proved to be the only hits for CBU in the ballgame and the Toreros earned their second shutout of the season.
Â
Next up, the Toreros will travel to face Portland in Corvallis, Ore. to begin conference play. USD will open the weekend series on Friday at 6 p.m. PT at Goss Stadium.
