SAN DIEGO—San Diego shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, but the No. 1 Gonzaga offense proved too much to handle in a 90-62 loss at home Thursday.

The Toreros (2-7, 1-4) had three players score in double figures, led by
Finn Sullivan, who had 16 points, six assists and two steals.
Ben Pyle added 12 points and three steals and
Vladimir Pinchuk chipped in as well with 11 points.

San Diego's offense was productive from three-point land, knocking down eight threes on 16 attempts, led by Pyle with four.

Yavuz Gultekin saw his first minutes since USD's season opener on Dec. 9, and finished with nine points and led the team with five rebounds. Pinchuk also finished with five boards, however Gonzaga held a 38-28 advantage off the glass in the game.

San Diego jumped out to the early lead through the first 10 minutes of the contest, extending a 19-14 advantage behind solid play from Sullivan and Pinchuk. But a 15-point run gave the Zags a 29-19 lead with just under six minutes remaining in the half. USD cut the deficit to six with 1:33 remaining in the period, but the Bulldogs took a 40-29 lead into the halftime break.

Gonzaga kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 81-55 advantage before San Diego went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Pinchuk's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 81-60 with 4:35 to go in the contest. Gonzaga responded and outscored the Toreros the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 90-62.

The Bulldogs capitalized on turnovers, forcing 17 and converting into 26 points on the other end, compared to 13 points for USD. Gonzaga collected a number of points at the charity stripe, finishing 14-of-21, compared to just 4-of-8 for the Toreros. The Zags dominated on the fast break, outscoring the Toreros 18-0 but USD hung tough in the paint finishing with 30 points compared to 46 for Gonzaga.
