SAN DIEGO – Mason Tunbridge scored in the 57
th minute to cut the deficit, but Pacific (8-5-2, 3-1-2 WCC) held on to defeat the San Diego men's soccer team (2-14, 1-5 WCC) on Friday, 2-1.
The Tigers scored just before halftime in the 43
rd minute and just after halftime in the 49
th minute to earn a 2-0 advantage.
Tunbridge later tapped in a pass from
Nicklas Clausen, who received a ball from
Rhys Gourdie.
USD falls to 2-14 (1-5 WCC) on the season, and will travel to Saint Mary's for the regular season finale next Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- San Diego tallied six of the first seven shots of the game, including two on goal from Clausen and Gourdie.
- Pacific notched the first goal in the 43rd minute. A shot hit off the right post, and a Tiger was there to knock in the rebound.
- The Tigers made it 2-0 in the 49th minute, sending a ball to the upper left corner.
- In the 57th minute, Gourdie dribbled down the right side and played a ball inside the box to Clausen. Clausen continued it along to Tunbridge who tapped it into the back of the net.
- The teams registered one shot on goal each over the last 33 minutes, and both were saved.
