Toreros Set To Begin Spring Season

San Diego prepared for early season tests

SAN DIEGOSan Diego women's tennis kicks off their season this week with a pair of matches at home, the first on Friday Feb. 12 against Cal State Fullerton (1-1) and the second on Saturday Feb. 13 against No. 3 UCLA (4-1).

The matches will start at 1:30 P.M. (PT) and 1:00 P.M. (PT) respectively.

The Toreros are 9-1 versus Fullerton all-time with their only loss against the Titans coming in 2017. San Diego has never defeated UCLA in five tries.

Last season, Fullerton finished with an overall record of 7-5 while UCLA went 12-1.

USD coach Sherri Stephens is entering her 36th season coaching the Toreros. The team will be led by redshirt sophomore Solymar Colling, who was named to the All-WCC preseason team and comes into the season ranked No. 61 in the ITA preseason singles rankings.

The Toreros return four additional players from last year's team that went 7-4 overall.
