Â
After falling behind early 6-0, San Diego went on a 20-0 run with 16:33 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Massalski, to take a 20-6 lead. The Toreros then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 36-27 advantage. San Diego did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 18 of its 36 points close to the basket. The Toreros shot 52 percent from the field in the period and hit 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Â
The Tigers cut the lead in half, scoring on a 5-straight in the first two minutes of the second half. With 15:05 remaining, Pacific regained the lead for the first time in the period after going on a 6-0 run. After the deficit grew to as many as nine, USD rallied to make it a one possession game on a three-pointer from
Finn Sullivan with just under four minutes remaining. However, the Toreros could not secure the victory, falling 77-67.
Â
The Toreros will have a quick turn-around when they play host to Portland on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
