SAN DIEGO - In the inaugural match for the newly renovated Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center, the Toreros (1-0) defeated Cal Poly (1-1) by a final score of 6-1. 

"It felt great to finally compete again as a team", said head coach Ryan Keckley. "It had been close to a year since the last time we felt that same type of energy from court to court and to experience our first win in our new facility was something special".

After falling behind in doubles play, San Diego responded with a 7-6 (1-0) win by the duo of August Holmgren and David Norfeldt. Marvin Schaber and Nico Borter won their doubles match 7-5 to clinch the doubles point for USD. 

The Toreros dominated singles play, headlined by a 6-0, 6-0 sweep by Holmgren which had coach Keckley singing his praises. 

"He continues to lead this team by setting the bar everyday, including today," said Keckley. "He will be a force to reckon with this year"

Following Holmgren's victory, San Diego clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-1 win by Borter and a 6-1, 6-4 win by Sacchitt Sharrma. 

The Toreros return to the court next Sunday Feb 14 as they take on UC Irvine at 12:30 p.m. (PT).
