DALLAS, Texas - San Diego men's tennis (4-3) came up short on Thursday losing to SMU (11-7) 4-1 in Dallas, Texas.

"Congrats to SMU on a well played match.", said head coach Ryan Keckley. "I thought as a team our energy and competitiveness was on point. That's not enough to get you a win though. You have to compete with purpose, especially during the points that make or break a match." 

The Toreros fell behind in doubles play when Blake Kasday and Marvin Schaber were defeated 6-4, followed by Nico Borter and Sacchitt Sharrma losing by the same score which gave SMU a 1-0 lead. 

In singles play, SMU pushed their lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court 2 and extended it to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court 5. 

San Diego cut the Mustangs lead to 3-1 with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win by Sharrma on court 4 but SMU clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court 6. 

"At the end of the day, we didn't play those points on our terms," said Keckley."We have to be willing to take those points from them and we didn't do that today."

The Toreros will be back in action on Friday, March 12  as they take on Texas Tech. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (PT).
