SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's tennis (6-3, 0-0 WCC) will hit the road this week as they open up WCC play beginning on Friday, March 26 as they take on Pacific (3-5. 0-0 WCC) followed by St. Mary's (2-4, 0-0 WCC) on Saturday, March 27.Â
The matches will begin at noon and 11:00 a.m. (PT) respectively.Â
All-time, the Toreros are 1-0 against Pacific with the sole matchup coming in 2019, a 4-0 victory on the road for San Diego. The Toreros are 4-12 all-time against St. Mary's. San Diego won the last matchup 4-2 on the road in 2019 as well.Â
The Toreros are coming off their biggest win of the season, a come from behind 4-3 win against Oregon last Sunday at home.Â
Oregon took a 1-0 lead after winning the double's point and after Jordyn McBride tied the match at 1-1, the Ducks won the next two singles matches to push their lead to 3-1.Â
The Toreros responded with a 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) win from Elizabeth Goldsmith and a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win by Solymar Colling to tie the match at 3-3. Victoria Kalaitzis won the match for San Diego with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win to give the Toreros the 4-3 victory.Â
The match also featured Colling and Goldsmith seventh consecutive doubles win. In the most recent ITA doubles rankings, Colling and Goldsmith were ranked 74th in the country.Â
