Baseball Announces 2023 Schedule

Season set to begin on February 17 vs. Nebraska at Fowler Park

SAN DIEGO — San Diego baseball released its full 2023 schedule today, as announced by head coach Brock Ungricht.

The Toreros' schedule features 25 home games and 25 on the road (50 in total), with 27 West Coast Conference matchups plus 23 non-conference contests against some of the nation's most competitive college baseball programs. Five teams (Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, TCU, and Gonzaga) on USD's 2023 schedule qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season.

Things will get started for San Diego when Nebraska visits Fowler Park from Friday, February 17 to Monday, February 20 for a four-game set, then USD will continue a seven-game season-opening homestand by hosting three Tony Gwynn Classic contests from February 24-26.

San Diego will then embark on its first road tip of 2023, traveling to Eugene, Oregon to take on the Ducks and begin a season-long nine-game road stint that will see the Toreros face exclusively 2022 NCAA Tournament participants.

USD will play Oregon from March 2-5 at PK Park, then will continue north for a March 7th rematch with Oregon State at Goss Stadium — where San Diego matched up with the Beavers last June as part of the 2022 NCAA Corvallis Regional.

A trip to Texas will follow, taking the Toreros to Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth for three games against TCU from March 10-12 before USD's remarkable road stretch concludes on March 14 at UCLA.

Other non-conference tilts include midweek home-and-home series with CSUN (March 28 on the road, April 25 at home), and UC Irvine (April 11 on the road, May 9 at home). San Diego will host crosstown rival San Diego State on Tuesday, March 21, and will visit nearby UC San Diego at Triton Ballpark on Tuesday, April 4 before making a trip to Tony Gwynn Stadium to play the Aztecs on April 18.

WCC play is set to begin on March 17, when the Toreros host Pacific for a three-game set at Fowler Park. Home conference series for USD include Pacific (March 17-19), Pepperdine (March 31-April 2), Portland (April 14-16), San Francisco (April 21-23), and BYU (May 4-6).

Away WCC series include trips to Santa Clara (March 24-26), Gonzaga (April 6-8), Loyola Marymount (April 28-30), and Saint Mary's (May 12-14).

USD won 37 games in 2022, earning the team its first West Coast Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA Regional win since 2013. The Toreros are set to return 17 letterwinners, including 2022 All-WCC First Team selection Kevin Sim, 2022 All-WCC Honorable Mention Ryan Robinson, 2022 All-WCC Freshman Team selection Ryan Kysar, and 2022 All-WCC Tournament Team selections Jack Costello and Ivran Romero.

Remaining game times and information on how to purchase 2023 San Diego baseball single-game and season tickets will be released at a later date.
