STOCKTON, Calif. – The San Diego women's soccer program (2-12-5, 0-7-2 WCC) fell on the road in the 2022 season finale to Pacific (7-3-10, 2-3-4 WCC), 3-0, on Saturday night at Knoles Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Toreros fell behind in the second minute of the game, as Jaida Nyby secured a breakaway goal for Pacific.
- While San Diego was able to get back on track and create good chances, the Tigers were able to get another goal from Nyby before the end of the half.
- The Toreros were more active in the second half, getting several shots on goal, including ones by Bella Piete, Cameryn Maddox and Delaney Jannone.
- Junior Maronne Suzuki nearly had a goal in the 77th minute off a beautiful free kick from just outside the box, as her attempt beat the Pacific goalkeeper and hit the post.
- Ultimately, the Tigers would put the game away with an extra goal, despite several strong saves from Sophine Kevorkian on the day.
TORERO TIDBITS
- Kevorkian secured the single season San Diego record for saves with six on the day to finish the year at 96. That beats Amber Michel's 2017 record of 95 saves.
- Graduate student Adalee Broadbent played another full 90 minutes, bringing her to 2,271 consecutive minutes played. The Lancaster, Pa. native played in every single minute of the 2022 season.
- San Diego finished with 18 shots on the game and was slightly outshot 22-18 in the game.
