SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program has added another transfer this offseason, welcoming
Lauren Tanner to the program to start play during the 2023 season.
A native of Truckee, Calif., Tanner returns to her home state after two seasons of play at Arkansas. Tanner will have two years of eligibility remaining.
The midfielder spent her first two seasons at Arkansas, playing in 24 games and 303 minutes, including in three NCAA Tournament games, headlined by the 2021 Sweet 16 contest against Notre Dame. While at Arkansas, Tanner and the Razorbacks made the NCAA Tournament in both seasons, reaching the Elite 8 in consecutive campaigns.
Tanner also proved to be a strong student in her time in Arkansas and was selected to the 2021 SEC first-year Honor Roll.
In her high school career, Tanner led Players North NPL to the quarterfinals of the NorCal State Cup and was a team captain of the No. 7 nationally ranked club team. Tanner was also captain of the three-time Surf Cup San Diego champions.
Tanner joins
Sam Gerhart (High Point) as the second transfer to joins the Toreros for the 2023 season.
