SAN MATEO—The West Coast Conference announced
Sydney Hunter as the recipient of their Player of the Week award. This award marks Hunter's first WCC Player of the Week award during her time at San Diego and the first time a Torero won this award since 2015.
Sydney Hunter scored more than 21 points across three consecutive games the week of February 7 through February 13 and recorded two double-doubles. During that week alone,
Sydney Hunter scored 72 points and collected 28 rebounds.
Sydney Hunter willed her team out of an eight game losing streak and shifted San Diego's momentum into a three game winning streak.
Beginning on Monday, February 7, Sydney Hunter recorded her third double-double this season and set a career high of 29 points and 14 rebounds against Pacific. Hunter shot 7-12 from the field, 1-1 from the three-point line, and went 14-17 at the free throw line.
On Thursday, February 10, Hunter recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds against LMU for her second consecutive double-double this week and her fourth overall this season. Hunter shot 9-14 from the field and went 3-3 at the free throw line.
On Saturday, February 12, Hunter scored 22 points and had three rebounds against Pepperdine. Hunter shot 9-12 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line.
