Box Score PHOENIX, AZ – The San Diego men's tennis team defeated Arizona State in a thriller on Sunday, 4-3. The Toreros won the doubles point before Alex Stater clinched the win at No. 4 singles in three sets.

"We are very happy with the win today, but have a lot of work to do to get to where we know we can be as a team this season," said head coach Ryan Keckley. "Both Arizona teams left a bitter taste in our mouth last year, so we were very excited for the opportunity that was in front of us this weekend. I was overall impressed with our doubles and the fighting spirit we had during our Arizona trip, but I know that our best tennis is in front of us."

"I'm proud of our seniors for getting the job done against a good ASU team on the road," Keckley added. "It is never easy to play in Tucson or Tempe, so I was very pleased with how we battled in uncomfortable conditions. Alex, Will and Gui showed a lot of leadership out there in the big moments today. Those three had the same opportunities against Arizona on Friday but weren't able to capitalize on them. Each match will bring more confidence to this veteran group. We'll get to work this week to prepare for a good UCSB team next weekend at home."
 
USD improves to 2-1 on the season, and will host UC Santa Barbara next Sunday.
