Women’s Basketball Adds Claire Gallagher for 2022-23

SAN DIEGO – The University of San Diego women's basketball program has announced the addition of Claire Gallagher, who will join the Toreros ahead of the 2022-23 season. Gallagher spent her freshman season at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, where she appeared in 25 games, including six starts.

"We are thrilled to add Claire Gallagher to our women's basketball program," said head coach Cindy Fisher. "Claire is a very versatile player, as her ability to shoot the three and take people off the bounce make her a tough matchup and a threat at many levels. She gained invaluable experience as a freshman at Lafayette and that will help greatly with her transition to the University of San Diego. Claire also excels in the classroom and is a person of high character. We are looking forward to her joining the program this summer."

In her only season at Lafayette, the Lake Forest Park, WA native averaged 6.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Averaging 23.5 minutes, Gallagher also led the team with 38 three-pointers made.

During her collegiate debut against Pittsburgh, Gallagher poured in 19 points on 5-of-6 from long range to go along with five rebounds. On February 9 at Navy, she scored a season-high 21 points on 8-of-17 from the floor, including five triples.

In the classroom, Gallagher registered a 4.0 GPA as an Engineering major during her first year. While at King's High School, she accumulated 897 points, 226 rebounds, 191 assists and 132 steals in addition to maintaining a 4.0 GPA and being named valedictorian.
