SAN DIEGO – Following a shutdown week of leading the men's soccer defensive corps, senior Trevor Dillon has been named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week, as the conference announced on Monday.  
 
A native of Draper, Utah, Dillon led a terrific collective effort by the Toreros defense in a 1-0 shutout of San Francisco to open the WCC season. Dillon and the Toreros controlled the Dons offense, holding them to their lowest shot output of the season and nearly a calendar year at just seven.
 
Dillon and the Toreros limited the Dons to only two shots on goal and none in the game's first 69 minutes. In addition, the Dons leading scorer was held to no shots, as Dillon and the Torero stifled any attacking option to secure their fifth shutout of the season as a unit.
 
The reigning WCC Defender of the Year has continued his high-level play at the center back position and leading the team in minutes with 982 so far this year. In addition, Dillon has a goal and one assist for three points through 11 starts.
 
Dillon and the Toreros are back in action for more WCC play on Saturday, traveling to Moraga, Calif., to face Saint Mary's on Oct 7 at 1 p.m. The match will be streamed via ESPN Plus.
