LOS ANGELES – The San Diego men's tennis program wrapped up competition at the SoCal Intercollegiates, hosted by USC over the weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The weekend opened with qualifying as the Toreros largely breezed through the opening stages.
- Blake Kasday, Christian Kuehne and Nikhil Niranjan each won in straight sets for both qualifying matches in singles.
- Niranjan continued a strong run by advancing to the round of 16 in singles and quarterfinal in doubles alongside Kasday.
- The redshirt sophomore went 3-1 in singles over the weekend and 4-2 overall.
- Kasday and Niranjan nearly emerged from their doubles quarterfinal, but fell in a tiebreaker to their opponents from SMU.
San Diego will wrap up the 2023 fall schedule with a pair of events next week, as
Iiro Vasa and
Sacchitt Sharrma will compete in the ITA Fall Nationals beginning on Nov. 1, while the Toreros will host the Hagedorn Hidden Dual from Nov. 3-5.
