Baseball Reveals 2024 Schedule

Season set to begin on February 16 at Texas

SAN DIEGO — San Diego baseball released its full 2024 schedule today, as announced by head coach Brock Ungricht.

The Toreros' schedule features 21 home games, 29 road contests and one at a neutral site (51 in total), with 24 West Coast Conference matchups plus 27 non-conference contests against some of the nation's top college baseball programs. Five teams (Texas, Dallas Baptist, Arizona, Santa Clara, and Cal State Fullerton) on USD's 2024 schedule qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season.

Of San Diego's first 20 games, only six are inside the friendly confines of Fowler Park. The Toreros' 2024 season begins on Friday, February 16, when USD faces the University of Texas in Austin for three games at UFCU Disch-Falk Field before a return to the West Coast, going up against UC Irvine at Anteater Ballpark on February 20.

San Diego's home opener is slated for February 23, when it will begin a three-game series against the Arizona Wildcats at Fowler Park.

The Toreros will then go back on the road to Los Angeles to play four different schools. USD's LA road trip will get going against CSU Northridge on February 27, then will see the Toreros return to UC Irvine on March 1 before traveling to Jackie Robinson Stadium to play UCLA on March 2. San Diego's Southern California swing will conclude on March 3 at Dodger Stadium against Michigan as part of the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic, a matchup that represents the Toreros' lone neutral-site game of the 2024 regular season.

A rivalry matchup against crosstown foe San Diego State will await the Toreros on March 5 before they return to Texas for the second time in four weeks for a clash with Dallas Baptist, which won the regular season Conference-USA title and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament last year.

Cal State Northridge will visit Fowler Park on March 12 ahead of yet another road stint for USD, one that will see it travel to Michigan for three games (March 15-17)  and Cal State Fullerton for a midweek matchup on March 19.

West Coast Conference play is set to begin on March 22, when San Diego hosts Saint Mary's for a three-game set that precedes a midweek home matchup against Cal State Fullerton.

Late March will see USD make its first trip to Northern California of the season for a three-game conference series at Pacific from March 28-30. The Toreros will then come home to face the USC Trojans for a mid-week game on April 2 before a three-game conference series against LMU from April 5-7.

A 10-game road swing in April will begin with a short trip to UC San Diego at Triton Ballpark on April 9. Sandwiched in between two three-game WCC series at Portland (April 12-14) and at Pepperdine (April 19-21) to end the road trip is a non-conference game at USC on April 16.

San Diego will then enjoy its longest homestand of the season, playing nine straight games at Fowler Park. The stretch will feature two conference series against Gonzaga (April 26-28) and reigning WCC Tournament champions Santa Clara (May 3-5). Two of USD's three remaining games at that point will be against local opponents: SDSU on April 23 and UC San Diego on May 7 to bookend the homestand. The Toreros will also square off against UC Irvine at Fowler Park on April 30.

USD's regular-season slate features one final road trip, a three-game series at San Francisco from May 10-12.

The WCC Tournament will take place at Las Vegas Ballpark from May 22-25.

USD went 24-25-1 (17-10 WCC) in 2023, which was good for third place in the conference standings. 2022 All-WCC First Team selection Angelo Peraza is back for his senior season, joining junior two-way player/All-WCC Second Team selection Austin Smith and sophomore infielder Jack Gurevitch, who earned a selection to the All-WCC Freshman Team last year.

Remaining game times and information on how to purchase 2023 San Diego baseball single-game and season tickets will be released at a later date.
