SAN DIEGO — San Diego swimming and diving notched 10 first-place finishes on Saturday afternoon at the USD Sports Center Pool, earning the Toreros a dominant 238-62 win over Loyola Marymount.
Anna Vermuelen,
Audrey Gingras,
Elise Sullivan,
Gigi Zinis,
Jayne Brandt, and
Skylar Bruner all won races against the Lions, with Sullivan doing so three times and Bruner and Vermeulen doing so twice.
Anna Howard and
Jane Riehs took home first place in both of the afternoon's diving events.
Brandt,
Holly Tarantino, and
Rose Jania all notched two second-place finishes, while Bruner, Gwendolyn Smith, and
Mia Griffiths all placed second in one race apiece.
Chloe Howell and
Hannah Hintermeister both secured a pair of third-place finishes, and were joined by Smith, Zinis,
Milan Bever, and
Claire Sheerin, who each placed third in one race.
San Diego took home the first and second-place spots in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, led by Tarantino, Jania, Skylar Horder, and Zinis, who were followed by Smith, Sullivan, Sheerin, and
Sasha Ganem.
USD also won first and second in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, with Gingras, Howell, Vermeulen, and Brandt placing first ahead of
Claudia Dumais,
Sasha Ganem,
Kate Peterson, and Zinis, who teamed up to finish second.
The Toreros are back in action on Friday, November 17, when they travel to Los Angeles, California to take part in the ELAC Invite, which will run through Sunday November 19 at East Los Angeles College.
