CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The San Diego softball program (3-12, 0-0 WCC) rode a prolific offense to a 12-1 win in five innings over Portland State (4-8, 0-0 Big Sky) on Saturday afternoon at the Mary Nutter Classic, at the Big League Dreams softball facility.

Amanda Limon drove in three runs, while
KJ Hopfer went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, a double and an RBI.
Madison Earnshaw and
Ashley Daugherty combined for five innings, allowing seven hits and one unearned run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Toreros struck early and often in the win, opening with their first run in the opening frame.
- EJ Joyner drew a walk in the first at bat of the game and worked her way to third base before Arisa Tovar drew her in on a sacrifice fly, making it 1-0.
- The Toreros broke the game open in the second inning, starting with an RBI single from Hopfer.
- Joecellia Roberts would come home on a passed ball and Hopfer would quickly follow after a single from Shawnese Hogue-Lacy to make it 4-0.
- Joyner would follow it up with an RBI double and Limon added a double of her own to make it 6-0.
- The Toreros would deliver more of the same in the third inning, ballooning the lead to 11-0.
- San Diego loaded the bases with no outs and made the Vikings pay immediately.
- Hogue-Lacy drew a bases-loaded RBI walk to make it 7-0 and then Joyner cleared the bases, launching a ball down the right field line to make it 10-0.
- Limon tacked on the final run of the frame with an RBI groundout.
- While Portland State scored a run off an error, Earnshaw finished off the third inning, before giving way to Daugherty who went two scoreless frames.
- Tovar capped off a big day with an RBI single in the fifth inning to put the game away and secure a 12-1 win.
