SAN DIEGO – Making the short trip across town, the No. 37 University of San Diego women's tennis team defeated San Diego State on Saturday, 6-1.
The Toreros earned the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 2 (
Claudia De Las Heras and
Jordyn McBride) and a 6-4 win at No. 1 (#15
Elizabeth Goldsmith and
Kailey Evans).
In singles, San Diego State tied the match at 1-1 with a win at No. 3. USD answered with five straight singles wins, including
Jordyn McBride at No. 6,
Abigail Desiatnikov at No. 4,
Claudia De Las Heras at No. 2,
Solymar Colling at No. 1, and
Kailey Evans at No. 5.
San Diego improves to 4-5 on the season, and will head to Waco, TX next weekend to face Washington and Baylor.
