PROVO, UT – In a road indoor match, the No. 27 University of San Diego men's tennis team fell at BYU, 4-2. Singles matches were played first, and doubles were suspended.
 
San Diego earned the first point, as Stian Klaassen raced to a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4. BYU answered with three straight wins on the first three courts.
 
Marvin Schaber slashed the deficit to 3-2 with a 6-3, 6-4 margin at No. 5 singles, but the Cougars clinched the overall match in three sets at No. 6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
 
"We understood what we needed to do to successfully play indoor, altitude tennis and in the biggest moments of the match we backed off. That's a losing recipe in these kinds of conditions. We needed to step outside our comfort zone and be willing to find other ways to win than what we are accustomed to and we didn't do that well enough today."
 
San Diego drops to 13-6 (5-1 WCC), and will have 13 days off before traveling to Pepperdine on April 14.
