SAN DIEGO – The No. 30 University of San Diego women's tennis team narrowly fell to No. 51 Loyola Marymount in the WCC semifinals on Friday, 4-3.
 
The Lions earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. USD's duo of Elizabeth Goldsmith and Filippa Bruu-Syversen pulled out a 7-6 victory.
 
In singles, USD got a 6-4, 6-3 win from Abigail Desiatnikov at No. 4 to tie the match. LMU answered with victories at No. 2 and No. 6 to go ahead 3-1.
 
Solymar Colling trimmed the deficit with a 6-3, 7-5 win at the No. 1 position, and Kailey Evans locked the match at 3-3 with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 5.
 
The Lions escaped with a three-set win at No. 3 to clinch.
 
San Diego drops to 12-10 on the season, and look ahead to the NCAA Women's Tennis Selection Show on Monday.
