SAN DIEGO - The No. 30 University of San Diego women's tennis team (12-10) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, and will face No. 26 California (12-9) in the first round on Friday at 9:00 AM PT. The regional will be hosted by the University of Texas, and the winner will face the winner of No. 9 Texas and A&M Corpus Christi.Â
Earlier this season, USD upended No. 11 Cal in the final day of ITA Kickoff Weekend, 4-1 to clinch a spot in the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championships. USD won the doubles points with victories at No. 1 (
Kailey Evans/
Elizabeth Goldsmith) and No. 3 (
Claudia De Las Heras/
Jordyn McBride). Goldsmith dominated in singles at No. 4, defeating #93 Hannah Viller Moeller 6-1, 6-1. Evans brought USD to a 3-1 lead, winning at No. 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-2.Â
Solymar Colling clinched the match at No. 1 with a 6-4, 7-6 victory.
