Women's Soccer Adds Seven Talents as Part of Class of 2025

SAN DIEGO – USD Women's Soccer Head Coach Greg LaPorte announced the addition of seven recruits as a part of the national signing day class of 2025.

Paige Bickley, Abby Haley, Makenna Liebman, Gianna Melton, Elise Miller, Macy Ratermann and Hailey Vermilyea will supplement the Toreros young core that aided in the start of the turnaround of the program in Laporte's first season in 2024.

Paige Bickley hails from Carlsbad, Calif., playing her soccer for City SC and Santa Fe Christian School.

"We're excited to welcome Paige to the Torero family," LaPorte said. "As a tenacious defensive midfielder and center back, her strength in tackles, composure under pressure, and natural leadership make her a cornerstone on the field. Paige's competitive spirit and ability to read the game will elevate our team defensively and beyond."

Abby Haley is a native of Mission Viejo, Calif. and plays in a midfield position at the club level for Slammers Fc and at Capistrano Valley High School.

"It's a joy to have Abby as a part of this talented incoming class," LaPorte said. "Her strength, athleticism, and exceptional ability to hold up play while making decisive contributions in front of goal make her a powerful force on the field."

Makenna Liebman will come to America's Finest City from Scottsdale, Ariz., competing at Chaparral HS and for Phoenix Rising.

"Makenna is a great add to the Torero family," LaPorte said. "As a center midfielder, her technical ability, composure on the ball and game intelligence make her a standout talent. We're excited to see how she will help elevate and shape the creativity and rhythm of our midfield."

Gianna Melton hails from San Clemente, Calif., playing for San Clemente High as well as club at Slammers FC.

"We're getting a special addition in Gianna," LaPorte said. "As a versatile attacking player, her creativity, vision and ability to control the game in the final third set her apart. With her strength in the air and clinical finishing, she's poised to be a massive attacking threat for us."

Elise Miller travels south from her hometown of Gig Harbor, Wash. where she plays for Gig Harbor High School and Pac Northwest SC.

"Elise's explosive pace, precise finishing, and ability to create moments of brilliance in the box make her a dynamic and electrifying presence on the field," LaPorte said. "We're thrilled to have her as a part of the Torero family soon."

Macy Ratermann is a local product, attending Westview High in San Diego and playing her club soccer at SDSC Surf.

"We're excited to get Macy in front of the Torero Stadium crowd," LaPorte said. "As one of the fastest players in Southern California, her pace and agility make her a constant threat out wide. Combined with her exceptional 1v1 abilities and versatility as a wingback or wide player, Macy brings an exciting dynamic to our team."

Hailey Vermilyea is a highly regarded prospect from Poway, Calif., also competing for SDSC surf and Poway High.

"We're excited to have Hailey Vermilyea in the Torero Blue and White this coming season," LaPorte said. "As a left-footed player with incredible athleticism and a relentless competitive spirit, she brings a unique edge to the team. Hailey's ability to impact the game on both ends of the field makes her a valuable addition to our program."
