WACO, Texas – San Diego Women's Tennis'
Kailey Evans fell in the second round of the NCAA Singles Championships to the tournament's No. 2 seed on Wednesday in three sets.
In her first NCAA Individual Championships of her career, Evans was able to clinch a first-round win in straight sets over Boston College's Olivia Benton, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) on Tuesday.
Returning to her home state, the Ennis, Texas native fought hard against one of the nation's top players in Georgia's Dasha Midmanova in the round of 32, however was one round short of the Sweet 16 and All-American status.
After winning three games in the first set, Evans flipped the script in the second, taking it 6-3. She couldn't stay in her groove in the third set, however, dropping six consecutive games.
